1st job application that was responded after 7 months

So here’s me writing this blog post on Thursday, 4th of November 2021. When I actually got my job on Monday, 7th of September 2020 and started on Tuesday 8th of September 2020.… Alhamdulillah for the experience.

To start with how I found this job. After I finished my course in graphic designing which I took/ studied in Texas Training Centre Doha, Qatar in 2019. My parents told me to open up LinkedIn (you can find me here) and search for jobs which is the reason, during my course I opened up an account and started to introduce myself and then later on started applying for jobs. And let me say how insecure I was for just being a student who left college to pursue her field in designing with 0 experience for an actual working environment. And I somehow had to break the ice to pursue the dreams in real life… as I was looking up for jobs with constant research I also found jobs available in Facebook. Yeh I did try it out too. And well guess who was messaged on messenger on Sunday the 5th of September 2020 at 11:47 pm.

Well I was awake to be honest because I was busy playing mobile games called PUBG with a squad of mine. And well I was pretty jobless back then simply drawing and living my life with my parents washing the dishes doing the chores and simple trynna live the life.

Okey so back to the topic I received the message on messenger asking if I was available for job and while playing my mobile game and seeing the notification bubble head popping out near the enemies asking if I'm available for job was like one of my most heartfelt moments of joy. And this was the first that actually responded to my CV and application compared to others. I don’t even know or keep records where and when and what I applied for. But I do know I applied for quite a lot. And since it was 11:47 pm I decided to not even open or view the message except for seeing it the following day. Cause I didn’t wanna be a creep especially being a girl online at 11 pm in the night. When I'm actually spending my time on a mobile game.

So out of joy while in the game I overjoyed out to my parents of this news and my parents were awake since dad was awake for his MBA assignments and my mama was busy playing her worm zone game. So I came up to them with my game running in my phone like

‘Mama, I just got a message asking me if I’m available for job’ and I was like the happiest 18 year old child who just found like she won a million dollar lottery while being wise to not respond immediately and especially during this hour.

Moving to the following day Sunday, 6th September 2020. I woke up, refreshed myself at around 9:30 am and asked my dad 'now what shall I reply?, how should I respond?, how do I talk in an interview'

I was genuinely clueless of my life at that moment and the decisions to be made as the presentation of myself.... the presentation of how I respond and communication that will decide my answer of........ if I will be hired or not. And reminding myself I have 0 experience plus no internship, nothing beside an art portfolio to showcase my work and a certificate.

So going back to responding, I responded, well not me but my dad replied.

He replied saying ‘yes will be interested, however depending on salary and conditions’

The employer responds ‘What is your expected salary’

I respond ‘If I can know the working conditions and the location of work pls’

Employer responds ‘Normal working hours’ ,‘the pearl qatar’

I reply ‘okey expecting ….k to …..k per month

Employer responds ‘can we do interview tomorrow’

I reply ‘sure… may I know the time and location of interview’

Employer responds ‘tomorrow at 11 am’

I reply ‘Is it in your office at pearl and whom I refer to?’

Employer *sends the location link in maps*

I reply‘whom do I refer to or speak to when I reach there? Can I know your contact and name please?’

Employer *sends first name and phone number*

I reply ‘alright’, ‘so the office will be expecting me for interview or you will be interviewing?’, ‘May I also know whom to report to or which deptart contact person’

And the end of the convo.. with the kind reminder I'm basically writing my past which happened last year so I just went through the text and realized I wasn't replied back, but instead left on seen.

So as my dad having experience and reading articles, dad wanted to ensure if it was genuine and since I was a girl my dad guided me on how to dress how to bla bla. I'll blog soon about interview preparations.

In addition, after the given information to contact. My dad and I have truecaller to track these users for authenticity and dad called the number. Unfortunately the person who revealed his name and contact details wasn’t to be found on LinkedIn to check for proficiency. And so then as the call was answered my dad and the employer/coordinator spoke and lemme add some awkward moments..

Dad asks ‘may I know what your position in the company/business your working in?’ and the receiver didn’t get what my dad was asking and he's like ‘I mean your designation’ and he (the one on the other line) replies ‘I’m the owner’ and then bla bla they cut the line and I couldn’t stop myself from laughing for the conversation that just took place. Maybe it was hilarious to some or maybe even non, but if only you were there to witness the actual conversation..
